The Citroën Peace & Love Rendezvous weekend, organized by Rik and Katty Dehaen, has become a popular annual event in Eastern Canada. This marked the 4th year and was once again held at Les AutoMobiles de Rik in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez, QC on August 24th and 25th.

Rick is in the Citroën repair and restoration business. He and his wife Katty have a strong desire to see friends gather to celebrate Citroën ownership in a theme of casual European camping mixed with 50 years of Woodstock. In fact, the theme for this year was “Summer of ’69” with many who came dress up in Hippie-era garb.

To be environmentally friendly, attendees were asked to bring their own plates, bowls, glasses, cups and dish towels (utensils were supplied as was hot water and soap)!

Things kicked-off on Saturday morning with the arrival of participants – Registration and snacks. There was a kiosk selling and exchanging Citroën articles, plus a silent auction was held with Citroën related objects offered for sale coming from the estate of Jean-Luc Comtois with all proceeds going to his grandchildren.

Saturday afternoon there was a local road trip and in the evening, dinner was provided with paëlla, sausages and lots of Belgian desserts.

Sunday began with a breakfast buffet followed by free time for swimming, walking, or just relaxation!. At 1:15 pm, Anais de Valicourt, a local herborist, took folks on an educational walk in the forest on the property and the children had a blast driving the ‘Peace & Love 2CV” in the meadow.

With Sunday winding down, departures were made, but many people camped for 3 days with the last one leaving on Monday afternoon.

Again, a great time was had by all in a true European tradition of informally getting together to enjoy Citroën fellowship.
