Putting a Special AMI Back in Service

Patrick van Griethuysen, the founder of the Dutch Citroën AMI club, has been busy these past few months restoring a very rare AMI – a 1969 Service Panel AMI 6. He found it as a pretty much a totally rotted out body, with a very damaged frame, but thankfully enough of the rear body was still in-tact that Patrick could very carefully cut out the panels from the sides as well as the panels covering the back doors. Fortunately too, the original registration was found with the car!

As found – a project – to say the least!

The frame, though damaged, had a covering of tar from a previous owner that managed to preserve it enough, it could be reused.

Patrick is in the process of recreating it, painted in the colour “Jaune Service, as the panel van of the local Citroën dealer in his hometown of Den Haag in The Netherlands. Here are a few photos of his progress so far:

Update – August 7, 2019: We are happy to report that Patrick van Griethysen has completed the restoration of his 1969 Ami 6 Service started in October last year. The colour is “Jaune bouton d‘or“. Here’s the finished photo:
